colours schemes

we will be researching many diffrent bands of the rock genre to see what colour schemes they use, and if it reflects the brand image and theme.

from our research of various bands a common theme is black with a primary colour over the top too stand out. such as green days black and green theme. as we can see a light green background with black writing, this stands out becuase of its colours alone.

this beatles cover, the itunes version shows a blast of vibrant colours bursting out at the consumer. a modern twist on a iconic album cover. the colours fit perfectly and each stand out against the other.

the pink floyd wallpaper has another strong impact of colour against the black background. one side is black and white then an outburst of various diffrent colours on the other. the colurs make this poster stand out and gives it the feel of the album, although this is not very typical of all rock bands to use colours such as yellow and purple, there is a common theme of bright colours against the black.

another pink floyd album cover, a simple design, the album refers to the picture seen, "the wall" another use of light and dark colours to contrast with each other, the poster is very appealing and it easily recognisable. the colours make this poster so appealing, making the information easily displayed and gives it an iconic theme.

Avenged sevenfold have used scary theme to reflect there genre of heavy metal. the album "nightmare" goes well with its nightmarish theme, using dark colours throughout. the title is written in white and red to stand out from the picture behind it.

production update

we have filmed all of our film, both on location and in the studio, we will now edit the video using our best footage. we are also experimenting with many different effects, to give the best image to our band. we have also created a draft of our digi pak, we are finalizing our digi pak choosing different colours that will fit our brand identity.

BAND LOGO

This is our band logo, although we need to make some ajustments this is a sketch of our offical band logo. as you can see we used blood and barb wire to show pain and suffering, very typical themes of the rock genre.

effects

we have many ideas for our music video, and many effects can help us achieve a better feel of the story we are telling in the music video. our narrative is a nightmare and we have found various effects that make the video much more nightmarish.
the earthquake effect helps the feel of loud aggressive rock music blasting out as they play it.
line art effect we can change the colour of the lines and background and give a great rock n roll effect, much like the effect kasabian used in "shoot the runner" with this effect we will show the nightmare the characters are in. the red lines show the anger and the black reflects the characters begin lost and alone.

narrative

we have decided our narrative for our music video will be based on a nightmare. where nothing makes sense. we will be wearing masks to show the horror of the characters and there inner-demons. our location, a abandoned power station works well to show the horror. there is lots of graffiti that shows the distortion and chaos of the location we are in. we have small narrative stories for each band member.
first part of the narrative  a band member is running through the abandoned nightmare house.
next part of the narrative  we have a band member walking past a room with the other band members looking at him when he looks back they have disappeared.
third part of narrative  is a band member being followed by people has he walks through his nightmare
fourth part of the narrative a member of the band sees three people on the ledge ready to jump to there death, hes run to try and save them but there already dead by the time he get to the top to save them.

LOCATION SHOTS

These are our location shots we will be filming our music video here, we have chosen this location because of its artistic graffti that brings a great atmosphere of a grudgy, gritty underground rock band

font research

i will be researching different types of font to see which is the best type for our bands image. we will be looking for bold recognisable fonts to stand out and have its own life and feel. we will be researching many diffrent rock bands to see how they stand out and how it reflects there muisc, And finding our own font that fits our genre and theme of band

This is metallica's logo and font, you can see its very bold and striking. the M and A have been designed to look very fast and Sharp reflecting on the musical style of fast heavy metal music. the silver adds to the knife like font showing its speed.

Paramores font has a gritty chaotic feel to it. the font looks like its been stamped on, showing there aggressive loud music. its simple design works extremely well, its very bold and stands out above the rest.

Fall out boy have there font to look spray painted on, showing there rebellious attitude. the letters are all off line showing chaos in the music and there image.

Megadeths font shows they are a fast metal band, because of sharp edges that look very jagged.the letters are bold and stand out. its also very recognisable which is a key aspect to create a brand identity. it is also very typical for metal bands to have these kinds of fonts

this font works very well for our band, it has a dark Gothic look that will appeal to heavy metal fans. the font has a fast pace to it, that will work very well with our bands  and sound. it has a horror feel to it
